She cited tourism, agriculture and education as some of the areas which could have been used to uplift the status of the region. Madam Doe said this at the 4th Regional Investment Forum organized by Central Regional Development Commission (CEDECOM) recently. It was on the theme, “Making the Central Region the preferred investment destination, prospects and challenges. Participants were drawn from private sector, civil servants, investors and opinion leaders.
Madam Doe mentioned some of the challenges facing the region as multiple sale of land to investors, inadequate human resources and high cases of chieftaincy disputes which was affecting development. She emphasized the need for the region to take advantage of the closeness of the Greater Accra and Western regions to boost its potential. She assured CEDECOM of the Central Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment to help and facilitate businesses to create employment for people in the region. CEDECOM Director, Spencer Taylor promised his outfit’s willingness to assist investors to achieve their dreams.
